Our Objectives

Our objectives include;

To promote research into relevant legal issues.
To promote legal advocacy, assistance and consultation.
To strengthen the capacity of vulnerable groups in the society
To promote knowledge development and exercise of legal rights.
To raise awareness of the legal rights of the vulnerable, abuse of these rights and shape policies
To provide paralegal training.
To provide legal training through sustained legal education programmes for lawyers and non-lawyers.
To provide leadership training.

These objectives among others are achieved through the development of capacity building programmes, legal research into relevant issues that affect the Country, providing paralegal training and providing recommendations to solve emerging problems.

Our unique and dynamic way of achieving results is due mostly to our reliance on five main tenets. These are; Research, Informed Discussion, Platform Building, Participation and Law, and Policy Formulation.

Research

CLARiT places a strong emphasis on research. We ensure that real, emergent as well as existing issues are thoroughly and expertly researched and discussed, solutions and recommendations carefully made to address the problems identified.

Informed Discussion

The second pillar of CLARiT is informed discussion. We utilise an innovative way of empowering our  target groups- providing a medium for expert practitioners, policy and lawmakers, development partners as well as other stakeholders to share informed experiences and ideas on the subject under review. In this regard therefore, our Resource Persons and Speakers are experts in the given area and are carefully chosen for the wealth and depth of knowledge and/or experience that they possess.

Platform

The platform that CLARiT provides ensures that relevant stakeholders have their informed voices heard.

Participation

CLARiT believes that active participation in the discussion at hand by the relevant stakeholders ensures consensus building. In this regard, each individual or organisation playing a role in our programmes is part of the process of ensuring effective achievement of the goals of the Programme.

Law & Policy Formulation

Research shows that the right policy and legal framework is essential for the realisation of set goals. Influencing policy and legislation is therefore a key objective of CLARiT. The process involved in our programmes ensures that law and policy makers are involved in the discussion.

Together we can

Our Resource Persons hold extensive experience and knowledge on the various issues and provide valuable input into our capacity building programmes.

Capacity Building Programmes

Our objectives are achieved mainly through the development of capacity building programmes; legal research into relevant issues that affect the country; providing paralegal training and; providing recommendations to solve emerging problems. Our capacity building Programmes aim at enhancing the knowledge of certain identified groups. These include; practitioners in the relevant field under study; those desirous of acquiring knowledge in the particular area being studied and; the vulnerable.
